Agricultural Production Economics

In the field of Agricultural Production Economics, the following journals are IMHO the most prestigious ones (in alphabetical order):

  • Agricultural Economics
  • American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE)
  • European Review of Agricultural Economics (ERAE)
  • Journal of Agricultural Economics (JAE)
  • Journal of Productivity Analysis (JPA)
  • Land Economics

The following journals have a slightly lower level/reputation in the field but are still very good journals (in alphabetical order):

  • Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy (AEPP)
  • Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AJARE)
  • Economics Letters
  • Empirical Economics (EE)
  • Food Policy

The following journals have a significantly lower level/reputation in the field but are also reasonably good journals (in alphabetical order):

  • Agribusiness
  • Applied Economics
  • Applied Economics Letters
  • Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics (CJAE)
  • Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (JARE)

The following journals have a much lower reputation but may also be okay if the paper cannot be published in a journal in the first three groups (in alphabetical order; none of these journals are indexed by ISI, only ARER and QJIA are indexed by SCOPUS):

For papers analyzing specific topics or interdisciplinary work, also other journals could be suitable, e.g.:

  • Agricultural Systems
  • Development Southern Africa (DSA)
  • Journal of African Economies
  • Journal of Peasant Studies (JPS)
  • World Development

Suggestions for adding further journals or changing the categories are highly welcome!
